1. Introduction & Acceptance
CoachField (the "Platform", "we", "us") operates an online marketplace connecting independent sports coaches ("Coaches") with users seeking coaching services ("Athletes" or "Clients"). By creating an account, accessing, or using CoachField, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create a CoachField account. Minors may receive coaching services only when booked and supervised by a parent or legal guardian who holds the account. Coaches must be legally authorized to provide coaching services in the jurisdiction where lessons take place.
3. The Platform's Role
CoachField is a marketplace, not a coaching provider, employer, or agent of any Coach. Coaches are independent contractors who set their own rates, schedules, and coaching methods. CoachField does not employ Coaches and does not control or direct the manner in which coaching services are delivered. CoachField makes no warranty regarding the quality, safety, legality, or fitness of any Coach's services.
4. Coach Obligations
By listing on CoachField, Coaches agree to:
- Provide accurate and truthful profile information, certifications, and credentials.
- Hold all required certifications and qualifications for the sport(s) and level(s) they offer to coach.
- Maintain personal liability insurance appropriate to their coaching activities (strongly recommended).
- Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws — including business licensing, taxation, child-safety regulations, and any required background checks.
- Honor all confirmed bookings and provide professional, respectful service.
- Anti-disintermediation: not solicit, accept payment from, or schedule lessons with any Client introduced through CoachField outside of the Platform for a period of twelve (12) months following the first booking. This protects the verification, payment, and dispute-resolution systems that make the Platform safe for both sides.
5. Client Obligations
- Provide accurate identifying information.
- Show up on time and behave respectfully toward Coaches and other users.
- Pay all fees through the Platform. Off-platform payment to circumvent CoachField fees is prohibited.
- Honor the cancellation policy described in Section 7.
6. Bookings, Payments, and Fees
Clients book and pay through the Platform; payment is processed by Stripe at the time of booking. Athletes pay the Coach's listed lesson price. No booking fee.
CoachField charges a 12% platform fee on the Coach's lesson rate, deducted from the Coach's payout. Coaches receive 88% of their listed lesson price for each completed lesson.
Payouts to Coaches are processed via Stripe Connect Express, weekly on Fridays by default. Coaches can adjust the payout schedule in their Stripe Express dashboard. All refunds are processed per the cancellation policy in Section 7.
Sales tax. CoachField does not currently collect sales tax. Private sports coaching services are generally not subject to sales tax in Florida. Coaches are responsible for understanding and remitting any sales, use, or other taxes applicable to their services in their jurisdiction. Where required by law, sales tax may be added at checkout in the future, with notice to users.
Income tax. Coaches are independent contractors and are solely responsible for reporting and paying income tax on earnings from CoachField. CoachField does not withhold any taxes from Coach payouts. Stripe will issue tax forms (1099-K or equivalent) annually for Coaches meeting reporting thresholds.
7. Cancellation & Refunds
- 24+ hours before lesson: free cancellation, full refund.
- 12–24 hours before lesson: 50% refund.
- Within 12 hours: no refund unless the Coach cancels.
- Coach cancellation: Client receives a full refund and a small CoachField credit as goodwill.
8. No-Shows
- Client no-show: no refund; the Coach is paid in full.
- Coach no-show: Client receives a full refund and the Coach receives a strike. Three strikes results in suspension or removal from the Platform.
9. Verification and Background Checks
CoachField verifies Coach identity and may run background checks via third-party providers. Verification is not a guarantee of safety. Clients are responsible for their own due diligence in selecting a Coach.
10. Prohibited Conduct
- Harassment, discrimination, threats, or violence of any kind.
- Inappropriate behavior involving minors — zero tolerance. Violations result in immediate permanent ban and reporting to law enforcement.
- Fraud, fake reviews, manipulation of ratings, or any attempt to game the Platform.
- Off-platform solicitation in violation of Section 4.
- Sharing accounts, reselling lessons, or impersonating another user.
11. Liability and Assumption of Risk
Sports coaching involves inherent physical risk. By booking lessons, Athletes acknowledge that:
- Coaching activities can result in injury, including serious or fatal injury.
- CoachField is not liable for any injury sustained during lessons.
- Athletes participate at their own risk.
- Coaches are solely responsible for their own conduct, methods, and the safety of their lessons.
Indemnification. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CoachField, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Platform, your interactions with other users, or your violation of these Terms.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CoachField's total cumulative liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the Platform is capped at the greater of (a) the amount of fees you paid CoachField in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD. CoachField is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.
13. Dispute Resolution
Disputes between users must first be submitted to CoachField's internal resolution process. Disputes that cannot be resolved internally will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, seated in the State of Delaware (or such other jurisdiction as required by law in your state). You and CoachField waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action.
14. Termination
CoachField may suspend or terminate any account at any time, with or without notice, for violation of these Terms, suspected fraud, safety concerns, or any reason it deems necessary to protect the Platform and its users. You may close your account at any time from your Settings.
15. Changes to These Terms
We will provide at least 30 days' notice by email of material changes to these Terms. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where pre-empted by mandatory law in your jurisdiction.
